DESCRIPTION:
Fine off-white powder with specific gravity range of 2.3
- 2.37 Hydrated calcium sulfate 95.8% CaSO4
2H2O, 1.2% CaCO3
and 3% range insoluble clay.
APPLICATION:
GYPSUM is used in GYPSUM Lignosulfonate or polymer muds
to introduce calcium ions into the mud system for shale inhibition
and converting bentonite to calcium forms which prevent problem
that might occur while drilling Anhydrite formation. Gypsum can
also be used to treat out carbonate, and bicarbonate contamination.
Ca SO4 +
CO3 →
Ca CO3 + SO4
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
GYPSUM Lignosulfonate mud carries calcium content in fluid
of 600 - 1200 mg/L, usually it needs 6 - 8 ppb Gypsum. Conversion
procedure to GYPSUM Lignosulfonate mud is as follows:
1. Dilute mud system with water to minimum value of bentonite content
and Viscosity.
2. Add 6 - 8 ppb GYPSUM.
3. Add 2 - 4 ppb FC-8 and 0.25 ppb caustic soda.
When GYPSUM is used with polymer mud, it requires a 1- 2 ppb concentration
in mud system to achieve optimum clay inhibition In order to treat
out carbonate; it requires 0.09 ppb of Gypsum for each 1 EPM carbonate.
The gypsum must be added slowly over several circulations to avoid
undesirable viscosity increase.
PACKAGING:
GYPSUM is packaged in 50 kg multi walled paper bags.
HAZARD:
Precaution should be taken while handling the materials.
